Kirjahylly - A Bookshelf

Tässäpä hutera kirjahyllyni. Simpukkapurkit on näytehuulipunan hylsyjä, samea kristallipallo on tehty lasikuulasta ja napista, kirjat, paperit ja rasiat on tulostettu jostain päin nettiä (muistaakseni Jim's printables tms.), ja pääkallon olen tehnyt fimosta. Muut ovat sekalaista sälää. Itse hylly on puuta, pahvia, rautalankaa ja muutama helmi!


Here's my wobbly bookshelf. Jars with seashells are from sample lipsticks, the blurry crystal ball is made from a marble and a button, books, papers and boxes has been printed from the net (Jim's printables, if I remember right..) and the skull I made from fimo. Other stuff is just miscellaneous things. The shelf itself is wood, cardboard, iron wire and a few beads!

Ruokapöytä - A Dining Table

Nyt tarvitsisin enää kuusi tuolia. Siinäpä se ongelma onkin. Tein jo yhden, ja kyllästyin sitä tehdessäni koko hommaan.. Ja tuolin selkänojasta tuli vino, joten oikeastaan tarvitsisin edelleen kuusi tuolia!!! Ja kärsivällisyyttä.  Olisiko kellään ylimääräistä?


Now, all I need is six chairs. That's the problem. I already made one, and got bored with the whole thing while doing it..  And the back rest got all crooked, so actually I still need six chairs!!! And patience. Does anyone have spare?

Nukkepariskunta - Doll Couple

Ensimmäiset fimo-massasta tekemäni nuket. Tätä ennen olen tehnyt muutaman nuken paperimassasta (esittelen heidät myöhemmin..). En osaa sanoa kummasta materiaalista pidän enemmän! Tämä pariskunta ei ikävä kyllä muuta Rottingroofiin asumaan, koska ovat lupautuneet toisaalle, ja haluavat majoittua hieman väljemmin, kun eivät näes ole aivan 1:12 kokoa.. Mutta jostain kumman syystä tuntuu kuin luopuisi rakkaistakin henkilöistä?? En ole tehnyt muille nukkeja tätä ennen. Ehkä se on kerta kerralta helpompaa? Ainakin näiden tekeminen on aina vain hauskempaa!!


My first fimo-dolls. I've done a couple papermache-dolls before (whom I will introduce later..) and I really can't say which material is better! This couple unfortunately, is not moving in to Rottingroof, because they're promised elsewhere. Besides their size is bigger than 1:12, so understandably they want bigger quarters.. Funnily it feels like giving away dear people?? I haven't made dolls for anyone else before. Perhaps it's easier next time? Well, at least making them is more fun every time!! 

Köynnöskasvi - A Climber

Käppyrä tikku, paperipäällysteistä rautalankaa, kuviorei'itin, silkkipaperia ja glitteriliimaa. Täytin ruukun itsekovettuvalla massalla, tökkäsin tikun massaan ja kieputin köynnöksen tikun ympärille. Kukat ja lehdet liimailin viimeiseksi. En ole mikään viherpeukalo, mutta tässä puuhassa väkisinkin iskee puutarhakuume..

One twisted twig, papercoated iron wire, shape puncher, silk paper, and glitter glue. I filled the pot with self-hardening clay, stuck the twig in the clay and twined the climber around the twig. Then I glued on the flowers and leaves. I don't have a green thumb, but doing this, I kind of felt myself a bit garden-feverish..

Kelpaa! - Good enough!

Pyrin siihen että teen itse kaikki huonekalut jotka vain pystyn, suurimmaksi osaksi sen takia ettei tämän harrastuksen kustannukset karkaisi käsistä, ja toisekseen siksi, koska se on paras osa koko touhua vaikka joskus vähän työläältä tuntuisikin!! Tämän sängyn tekeminen oli helppoa ja lystiä, puhumattakaan petivaatteiden tekemisestä.. Löysin kangaskaupasta alepalan aivan ihanaa samettia (ainakin siksi sitä väittäisin..) joka suorastaan vaati päästä päiväpeitoksi, verhoiksi ja tyynyiksi. Kangasta jäi vielä ylikin, ja siitä täytyy tehdä vielä jotain muuta mukavaa.. Sänky on väsätty puutikuista, jalat helmistä ja päätykoristeena on kieputettua rautalankaa, jonka paikalleen saaminen oli se vaikein osa koko prosessia! Sänkyjä olisi kiva suunnitella ja valmistaa vaikka minkälaisia, mutta tahtoo loppua makuuhuoneet kesken.. Joko on alettava harkitsemaan useampaa nukkekotia?! Hmm..


I try to make all the furniture myself, if I only can, mainly because I don't want this hobby to become too expensive (someone might argue with that already..) and because it's the best part of the whole thing, eventhough sometimes demanding!! Making of this bed was easy and fun, not to mention the bedlinens.. I found a lovely piece of velvet in discount, and it was asking for to be made as a bedcover, curtains and a pair of pillows. I still have some of the fabric left, and I must make something of it.. The bed itself is made of different pieces of wood, bedlegs of beads, and the decoration of spiralled iron wire. And getting the decoration on it's place, was the hardest part of the job! I'd love to design and build all kinds of beds, but I'm short of bedrooms.. Do I have to start thinking about another dollhouse?! Tempting..

Kaappikello - The grandfather clock

 Ensimmäinen huonekalu jonka nukkekotiin tein. Kello on vanhasta rannekellosta, joka ei enää valitettavasti käy.. Killuttimet on tehty sekalaisesta krääsästä, muuten kello on puuta. En kyllä ole vielä aivan varma, että onko kapistus ihan valmis. Kaipaisiko se vielä jotain lisää? Koristeita?


The first piece of furniture I made for the dollhouse. I took the clock part from an old wristwatch, which sadly doesn't function anymore.. Dangling parts are made of some miscellaneous trinkets, otherwise the clock is made of wood. I'm still not sure if the thing is complete. Should I add something more to it? Decorations perhaps?

Tavallaan vihasin näiden portaiden tekemistä, ja vielä olisi yhdet isot ja parit pienet tekemättä. Tästäkään urakasta en olisi selvinnyt ilman kultani mittausapua.. Noinkohan olisin päässyt helpommalla jos olisin ostanut valmiit portaat.. Tai tehnyt jotakin toisin? No siitä huolimatta, pidän tätä murheenkryyniä kauneimpana asiana koko talossa..


I kind of hated making these stairs, and yet there are a few more to go, I haven't yet figured out how to do them.. Again I needed help with measuring and counting, and my knight in shining armor was there!! I wonder, if it had been easier if I had bought them from the store.. Or if I could've done something differently? Well, any way, I find this nuisance to be the most beautiful thing in the house..

Ja tästä se alkaa! En olisi koskaan uskonut että hurahdan tähän touhuun, mutta jostain syystä minun ei koskaan kannattaisi sanoa ei koskaan..Tai sitten juuri siinä piilee aina minulle oiva opetus, sillä tämä nukketouhu on osoittautunut oikein hyväksi ajanvietteeksi! Haaveeksihan tämä olisikin jäänyt, jollei avomieheni (tietyn aikaa kinuttuani..) olisi auttanut rungon rakentamisessa! Minä kun en osaa mitata, puhumattakaan laskemisesta, ja jonkunhan täytyy myös sahata..


And here it begins! I never thought I'd fall for this kind of stuff, but for some reason, I should never say never.. Or maybe there always lies a lesson for me to learn, because this has proven to be a wonderful hobby! I'm glad that my partner (is it the right word? We're not married, but I don't want to call him a boyfriend, because that sounds silly..) helped me to build the frame because I suck at measuring and counting and, well, someone has to do the sawing too..
